What is Intimate Depigmentation Treatment?
The dermamelan® intimate is an in-clinic and homecare treatment to reduce pigmentation in the intimate zones including the genito-perineal zone, the perianal zone, the mons pubis, inner thighs and groin.
Darkening of skin or hyperpigmentation in the genital area can be caused by hormonal changes, pregnancy, medications, laser hair removal, waxing, tight clothing & friction and other factors. Although this is a normal process and a common issue, for some women it is uncomfortable and impacts hugely on their confidence and ends up interfering negatively with their intimate life. It is purely cosmetic procedure to improve appearance.
How is genital skin depigmentation performed?
Our depigmentation treatment is a simple procedure performed by a therapist in our office in about 45 minutes including consultation. Here’s how it works:
The darkened skin is cleaned thoroughly, and a peel is applied to the area for about 7 minutes. The peel is then neutralized. The dermamelan intimate mask is applied over the area and its left on for 2 hours, with a cling wrap to keep it in place. After 2 hours, the mask is washed off with lukewarm water, then the intimate crystal fibre mask is applied to the area and is left on for 10-15 minutes for soothing the area. A home serum is provided for daily use for 1-2 months, starting 2 days after the peel.
What is post-procedure care for dermamelan intimate treatment?
Sun Protection: Avoid direct sun exposure to the treated area for at least 6 months. Even if the area is covered by clothing, it’s recommended to apply SPF cream to protect the skin during sun exposure.
Activity Restrictions: While there is no downtime after the procedure, patients may experience increased sensitivity. It’s advisable to refrain from sexual activity until any sensitivity resolves, typically within a few days to a week.
Clothing and Home Care: opt for loose-fitting clothing to prevent irritation to the treated area. Additionally, continue using the provided home care gel for a minimum of 60 days post-procedure to maintain and enhance results.
Following these post-procedure care instructions will help ensure a smooth recovery and long-lasting benefits from your intimate peel treatment.
