Emsella Chair

How does it work?

The main effectiveness of the pelvic floor exerciser treatment is based on focused electromagnetic energy.

A single session of this treatment induces thousands of supramaximal pelvic floor muscle contractions – these are extremely important in the muscle re-education of patients.

This pelvic floor exerciser is designed to strengthen pelvic muscles and reduce leakage without drugs or surgery or the need for prolonged and usually ineffective pelvic floor exercises.

Benefits include:

  • Noticeable relief from leakage and/or hyperactive bladder
  • Enhanced sensation in the pelvic area
  • Increased bladder control
  • FDA-approved for men as well as women
  • Non-invasive and non-surgical
  • No recovery or downtime needed
  • Remain fully clothed during treatment

A single 28-minute session results in 11,200 pelvic floor muscle contractions which has the effect of performing the same number of Kegel exercises

    FAQs

This treatment provides treatment for both “urge” and “stress” urine leakage.  “Urge”   also common among men, refers to the involuntary release of urine when an overwhelming urge to urinate appears, and women suffer mainly from “stress” urine leakage which occurs when they are exerting effort or exercising.

Leakage happens when the muscles in the bladder that control the flow of urine contract or relax involuntarily, resulting in leaks or uncontrolled urination. The cause is often unknown but can be related to medical problems like diabetes.

The cause of stress urine leakage  is a weak pelvic floor muscle. The function of these muscles is to hold the bladder in place and control the release of urine. Weakness or injury of the pelvic floor muscles is often caused by childbirth, obesity or any situation that repeatedly increases intra-abdominal pressure, such as chronic constipation, heavy lifting, and high-impact exercise.

Some women experience a gradual increase in stress leakage over time, while others lose bladder control quite immediately after childbirth.

This treatment can also be used for laxity and to treat men struggling with an overactive bladder or who have undergone prostatectomies.

This non-invasive, lunchtime treatment penetrates targeted pelvic floor tissue and stimulates muscles to build strength and restore support for pelvic organs. The chair does all the work, initiating intensive pelvic floor exercises through 11,200 muscle contractions in just 28 minutes. The chair uses a high-intensity electromagnetic field to activate motor neurons located in the pelvic floor. With dramatic results that are immediate and on-going, the chair offers a solution to debilitating issues without needing to undergo surgery or any other invasive treatment.

The use of pelvic floor muscle training for the prevention and treatment of urinary leakage has been recommended for women for a very long period of time. The Cochrane Studies have shown that one-third of women who have urinary urge leakage improve after the use of pelvic floor muscle training, during their antenatal and postnatal phases.

It is important to undergo the treatment during early and mid-pregnancy, primarily because it is not as effective for women who are at the last stage of their pregnancy even though the treatment affects the reduction of urge leakage postpartum.

The treatment is a walk-in walk-out procedure with no downtime. The patient remains fully clothed and able to resume normal activity immediately. Most patients report no discomfort during the treatment while some report mild, tolerable contractions. A treatment session takes around 30 minutes. We advise 2 treatments a week, for 3 weeks (6 in total) for the best results.

Some improvement of symptoms is expected from the very first session. After 6 sessions stronger pelvic floor muscles result in a decrease in any urine leakage and increased feeling in the pelvic area.

Anyone with metal implants (hip replacements, spine plates) is not allowed to have this treatment. Magnetic field used in the treatment will heat up the metal in the pelvis which is dangerous.
