Skin Peels

Body and Skin Clinic offers a range of medical grade chemical peels expertly applied by our experienced somalogists. We recommend Mesoestetic chemical peels over other peel brands for several compelling reasons:

Scientifically Advanced & Medical-Grade Formulas –  Their chemical peels contain clinically studied concentrations of active ingredients that deliver predictable, consistent, and safe results.

Targeted, Customisable Treatments – Mesoestetic offers a wide variety of peel options, each formulated to treat specific skin conditions. This allows our therapists to tailor treatment plans to individual clients’ skin types, and goals.

Proven Safety for All Skin Tones – Mesoestetic’s protocols, especially Cosmelan and Melanostop, are suitable for all skin tones with pre-treatment guidelines and post-care protocols to ensure minimal risk of PIH and excellent results for darker skin tones, a known limitation of many other brands.

Integrated Homecare Support – Each peel is supported by professionally developed homecare ranges which enhance and prolong in-clinic results.

Cosmelan® Depigmentation Treatment

1. Who is this Cosmelan for?

  • Suitable for all Fitzpatrick skin types (I–VI), with proper preparation for darker skin

  • Both men and women seeking visible improvement in skin brightness and clarity

2. Why is Cosmelan suitable for those conditions?

  • Cosmelan® is a globally recognized depigmentation protocol that acts by inhibiting tyrosinase, an enzyme involved in melanin production.

  • Its two-phase approach (in-clinic mask + at-home treatment) allows it to:

    • Visibly reduce existing pigmentation

    • Prevent recurrence of dark spots

    • Even out the complexion over time

    • Address the root cause of pigmentation, not just the surface appearance

  • Contains potent ingredients such as azelaic acid, kojic acid, phytic acid, arbutin, and retinyl palmitate

3. Who can’t have Cosmelan?

  • Pregnant or breastfeeding clients

  • Those with active rosacea, dermatitis, or eczema on the face

  • People with open wounds, active cold sores, or infections

  • Clients with very sensitive or compromised skin barriers

  • Those who have recently undergone strong peels, laser resurfacing, or cosmetic surgery (must allow skin to fully heal)

4. How to prepare for Cosmelan

  • Avoid active ingredients (e.g., retinol, glycolic acid, salicylic acid, vitamin C) for 5–7 days prior

  • Avoid direct sun exposure, tanning beds, or waxing before treatment

  • Use a gentle cleanser and a non-active moisturiser leading up to the treatment

  • Fitzpatrick IV–VI should pre-treat with a tyrosinase inhibitor for 2–4 weeks if recommended by the practitioner

  • Do a patch test if the client has a history of sensitivity or allergic reactions

5. What to do afterwards to enhance results

  • Strictly follow the Cosmelan® 2 homecare protocol for at least 3 months (sometimes up to 6 months), as this ensures long-term results and prevents recurrence

    • This typically includes Cosmelan 2, Melan Recovery, and Melan 130+ SPF

  • Avoid sun exposure entirely during the first few weeks; wear SPF 50+ daily even indoors

  • Expect peeling, redness, tightness, and sensitivity in the first 7–10 days – this is normal

  • Do not pick or peel the skin manually

  • Avoid makeup for at least 48–72 hours after mask removal

  • Avoid exfoliants, actives, and treatments like waxing, laser, or microneedling for several weeks

  • Hydration and barrier repair is key – use calming, nourishing products as directed

Results improve over time – pigmentation typically starts fading after 2–3 weeks, with significant improvement at 4–8 weeks
